Assisted Living

Apartment-style living for people who need help with daily life. Assisted Living facilities are regulated at the State level, as opposed to Nursing Homes, which are regulated at the Federal Level. 

Independent Living

Apartments for older adults seeking a maintenance-free  lifestyle. 

Intermediate Care

Provides care to individuals who do not require 24 hour nursing care, but do require services above room and board.

Long Term Care

Offers a range of support for people with chronic illness. May require non-medical care. 

Public Housing

Affordable apartments for low income residents, including elderly.

Rehabilitation Therapy

A skilled nursing facility that offers short and long-term rehab services. 

Residential Home

Apartments where people live on a perminant basis and receive care from live-in caretakers. Services vary greatly.

Respite Care/ Short Term Stay

For short periods of time, usually charged on a daily basis.

Retirement Community

Housing designed for Seniors. Series might include meals, housekeeping and transportation. Rates are usually charged on a monthly basis. 

Secured Unit

Apartments dedicated to dementia and Altzhmer’s patients, designed to keep them from wandering. Sometimes called Memory Care. 

Skilled Nursing

24 hour/ day licensed nursing facility. Includes medications.
